In my most recent marketing role, I opened my first presentation to the management team with the line, “The role of marketing is to help move the needle for the business.” Subsequently, I used that slide to begin every presentation to set the stage for reporting on the progress of the marketing team’s initiatives.
While considering finally joining the blogosphere, it at some point became apparent that most of my passions involve “moving the needle” in some form or fashion – running/swimming/biking (and all things on the human performance spectrum), driving (and all things motorsports) as well as time (and how we try to get the most out of the time we have ). With this in mind, it seemed appropriate to extend the “moving the needle” theme to my blog.
